About Us

USGBC Nebraska Flatwater Chapter is a network of building professionals, owners, government officials, developers, contractors and manufacturers working to promote environmentally responsible, economically feasible, occupant-friendly building design and support the LEED Rating System on a local level.

Our chapter was founded in 2004, and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Our Name: Flatwater was a name given by the Omaha Indians to the Platte River because it is a broad, shallow body of water.  Nebraska comes from the Omaha Indian word Nibthaska: ni, meaning water and bthaska, meaning flat.

Our Mission: To serve as a catalyst for the change in the state of Nebraska by promoting green building practices, technologies, policies and standards through partnerships with other organizations.

The Chapter is led by a Board of Directors to govern decision making and provide support to committees.  Committees are headed by Committee Chairs.  You can read more about each committee via the sidebar links at the left.
